Best Nursing College in Bihar — 7 Checks Before You Pay

No official ranking exists. Here are the seven things that actually separate a genuine nursing college from an expensive mistake — and our own answers to all seven.

First, an Honest Answer

Thousands of students in Bihar search for the best nursing college in Bihar every year, and almost every page they find gives them a numbered list. We are not going to do that, for a simple reason: there is no official ranking of nursing colleges in Bihar. The Indian Nursing Council and the Bihar Nurses Registration Council approve colleges — they do not rank them. Most "Top 10" lists you will find are published by lead-generation portals, and a place on the list is often paid for.

So instead of telling you who is best, this page gives you the seven checks that separate a genuine nursing college from an expensive mistake — and then answers all seven for ourselves, so you can hold us to the same standard.

The Seven Checks

#What to checkA good answer looks like🚩 Walk away if
1BNRC approvalCurrent approval letter, shown on request or published online"It is under process" · expired papers · refusal to show
2University affiliation (B.Sc)Named university — in Bihar, usually BUHS PatnaVague claims of being "recognised" with no university named
3Hospital for clinical trainingNamed hospital, bed count, weekly posting scheduleNo hospital named, or "we arrange it later"
4FacultyQualified nursing tutors you can meet on your visitNobody available to meet · no names given
5Skill labsLabs you are shown, with equipment in useLocked rooms · "under renovation" on every visit
6Written year-wise feesA printed year-by-year breakdown with what is includedA single total quoted verbally · "extras" appearing later · donation asked
7Hostel and safetyHostel you can inspect, warden, mess arrangementsHostel "nearby" but never shown

Take this table with you when you visit any college — including ours. A college that objects to being asked these questions has told you something important.

Government or Private?

Before comparing private colleges at all, it is worth understanding how the government option differs — the fees, the number of seats, and the rank you would need. We have written that comparison honestly on a separate page: Government vs Private Nursing College in Bihar.

Still Deciding Which Course?

If you have not yet chosen between the two main routes, read GNM vs B.Sc Nursing and ANM vs GNM. If you are checking whether you qualify at all, see GNM eligibility.

Choosing a College

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the number one nursing college in Bihar?
There is no official ranking of nursing colleges in Bihar. The Indian Nursing Council and BNRC approve colleges; they do not rank them. Any website presenting a numbered "top 10" is publishing an opinion, and often a paid placement. The useful question is not which college is number one, but whether a college passes the seven checks below — approval, affiliation, hospital training, faculty, labs, written fees and hostel.
How do I check if a nursing college in Bihar is genuine?
Ask for three documents and read them yourself: the BNRC approval, the university affiliation for B.Sc Nursing, and the current renewal. A genuine college hands them over without hesitation — ours are published online so you never have to ask. If a college delays, deflects, or shows you a photocopy of something expired, that is your answer.
Is a costlier nursing college always better?
No, and the reverse is equally untrue. Fee tells you almost nothing on its own. A high fee with no hospital attachment is worse value than a moderate fee with daily clinical postings. What matters is what the fee includes, whether it is written down year-wise, and whether the college can show you the wards where students actually train.
How many hospital beds should a nursing college have access to?
Nursing is a practical profession — you cannot learn it from a book. The Indian Nursing Council requires an attached or affiliated hospital with adequate beds for clinical instruction. Ask specifically: which hospital, how many beds, how many days per week, and is it a written arrangement? CSNC trains across a 230+ bed network — our 100-bed parent hospital plus government postings at NMCH Patna and Sadar Hospital Hajipur under a Bihar Health Directorate order.
Are "top 10 nursing colleges in Bihar" lists reliable?
Treat them with caution. Most such lists are published by education portals that earn money from admission leads, and placement on the list is frequently commercial. They are a starting point for names, never a substitute for checking approval papers and visiting the campus.
