DCECE GNM Cut-off Rank 2026 (Bihar) — What Rank Do You Need?

The real Round 1 opening and closing ranks for GNM in Bihar — government schools, private colleges, and what a five-digit rank can actually get you.

The Short Answer

Bihar has 1,778 government GNM seats across 30 schools and 5,128 private GNM seats across 141 colleges — 6,906 GNM seats in the DCECE counselling pool. Because government seats are so few, they are taken by the very top of the merit list, while the large private pool absorbs the rest.

In plain terms, from the Round 1 result of 2026: a rank under about 1,300 was in government-GNM territory. A rank in the tens of thousands means a private college — and that is not a consolation prize, it is where five out of every seven GNM seats in Bihar are.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on this page is taken from the official BCECEB documents for DCECE(PM)–2026: the prospectus (seat annexures 3.1C and 3.1D) and the published First Round Opening and Closing Rank list, with the Round 1 allotment result dated 11 August 2026. Cut-offs change every year and later rounds go deeper than Round 1, so always check the current notification on bceceboard.bihar.gov.in. The prospectus also states that seat numbers are shown on the previous year's basis and may change at counselling.

Across the whole state, private GNM closing ranks in Round 1 ran from about 29,904 (Tripolia, Patna) to 94,705 (D.P. Singh Institute, Nalanda) — and the 2026 merit list itself extended to roughly rank 94,700. CSNC's closing rank of 94,612 is among the deepest in the district, which simply means candidates across a very wide rank band were able to take a seat here in Round 1.

How to Read Your Own Rank

Your rank card carries more than one number. Besides the overall unreserved (UR) rank you have a rank in your own category (EBC, BC, SC, ST, EWS), a reserved-category girls (RCG) rank if applicable, a disability quota (DQ) rank if applicable, and female-only versions of each. In counselling a seat may be charged against a UR seat on merit, or you may “jump over” onto your own category's seat — which is why candidates with the same UR rank sometimes get different results.

If you are not sure how to read your rank card, our step-by-step counselling guide explains the whole process, or just call us and read the numbers out.

Where CSNC Fits

Chanchal Suman Nursing College, Mahua (Vaishali) is listed in the DCECE prospectus among the private GNM institutes with 30 GNM seats offered through DCECE counselling. The college is BNRC approved, trains students across a 230+ bed hospital network including government postings at NMCH Patna (approval documents here), and publishes its fees year-wise with no hidden costs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rank is needed for GNM in a government college in Bihar?
In DCECE(PM)-2026 Round 1 the government GNM schools closed between rank 50 (GNM Training School, PMCH Patna) and about 1,238 (GNM Training School, Buxar) in the unreserved list. The nearest one to Mahua, GNM School CHC Rajapakar in Vaishali, closed at 1,229. Government GNM seats in Bihar number 1,778 in total, so they are filled by the top of the merit list.
I have a five-digit rank in DCECE. Can I still do GNM?
Yes. Private GNM colleges in Round 1 of 2026 closed anywhere from about 29,904 to 94,705, and there are 5,128 private GNM seats against 1,778 government seats. A five-digit rank realistically means a private college seat rather than a government one.
What was the closing rank at Chanchal Suman Nursing College in 2026?
In the First Round of DCECE(PM)-2026, GNM at Chanchal Suman Nursing College, Mahua (Vaishali) opened at rank 29,314 and closed at rank 94,612 in the unreserved list, as published by BCECEB.
What is the difference between opening rank and closing rank?
The opening rank is the best (lowest number) rank allotted a seat at that college, and the closing rank is the last (highest number) rank allotted there in that round. If your rank is better than the closing rank, that college was within reach in that round.
Do cut-offs go higher in later rounds?
Usually yes. Seats left vacant after Round 1 move into later rounds and the mop-up round, and closing ranks typically go deeper as they do. A rank that missed in Round 1 can still get a seat later, so do not skip the later rounds.
